Dr. Gabey should move to the north pole where she can’t harm anyone. She did a horrible job on my right breast after she stuck a needle in my cyst, pulled it out, rinsed it off under cold water and stuck the needle in again and gave me a really bad infection and a big scar, when she gave me a tattoo for my Ariola, it faded and disappeared within two years .

I thought very hard about writing this review. I know what it takes to become a physician and respect most of them greatly. I have been a registered nurse for 26 years and 12 of those years worked with The Plastic Group of Albany many cases involved breast reconstruction once a mastectomy was completed. This group is no longer what it was as most doctors have retired. I was recommended by an MD who I respect greatly. She gave me two names of plastic surgeons, one was Dr. Gabey. I had my initial consultation and she explained everything well. I left her office feeling very good as I had been first diagnosed with a tiny mass then someone had missed an entire other mass on the same breast which now required a mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy. Dr. Gabey told me she could put a permanent implant in after the surgeon removed my breast. I looked forward to this because I had been through hell up to that point and wanted to feel whole again. Because it is difficult for 2 surgeons to book an OR together my surgery would not happen until 3/16/23. I started my FMLA in 12/2022 and was already running out of time for recovery after the surgery and when I called NYS and explained this misdiagnosis, they could not help me. On the day of surgery, Dr. Gabey was 1.5 hours late. I know this as a fact because I know the entire anesthesia group and could hear the chatter about whether anyone heard from Dr. Gabey. Once she arrived, she whipped open the curtain where I lay in the pre-op area and her energy was not only evil, but she was spewing something about men and was making no sense. My husband did not want her touching me , nor did I . My plan was to either get my nurse or talk to the general surgeon in the room because I did not want this woman to touch me. Anesthesia and the OR RN whisked me away so fast and had already sedated me so I never had the chance to cancel Dr. Gabey from working on me in the OR. No one called me the next day for a post-op conversation which should have been done by Dr. Gabey stating that she couldn’t put the implant in because of scar tissue from a previous surgery years ago. This is totally ridiculous!!! You take the whole breast off along with the scar tissue and put the implant in. SHE WAS LATE PERIOD!!!! And didn’t have enough OR time to complete her part of the surgery. I ended up with a tissue expander for which I had to go to her office weekly so she could fill it to match my other breast. During one of these visits, I waited and waited while I heard a laser or liposuction machine noise in the next room. I did not bring a phone to know what time it was but knew it had been at least an hour and I had to sign on to work soon. I went up and looked at the clock and told the two (unprofessional) assistants I could not wait any longer. In fact, I had to speed to get home for work. The following day I called back and asked Angela for another appointment and this was her response. ”Donna your work needs to understand that Dr. Gabey is the only plastic surgeon in this area who takes insurance. NOT TRUE !!!!! there are hundreds of plastic surgeons who take insurance. What she should have said was “Hey sorry about the last appointment, when are you available”? This woman had already been nasty to me and rushed me through scheduling another appointment because she was on a phone call making shower party arrangements. The next thing that I had to deal with was what ( Laura) did to me by not fixing a mistake she made on my FMLA paperwork On Saturday a few weeks after my last installation of saline I woke in the middle of the night with a temp of 104.3 and the tissue expander was getting larger and larger and more painful. I called Dr. Gabey who stated she would send in an antibiotic. Because I had no FMLA left ( thank you Laura) I had to work a 10-hour day in severe pain and no matter what I took: antibiotic, Advil, Tylenol my temp never came down under 103. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!!!
