Understanding Liposuction: Advanced Body Contouring in Portland

Liposuction is a precise surgical procedure designed to remove unwanted fat deposits from specific body areas, including the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, upper arms, and neck. Modern techniques like ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), tumescent, and super-wet techniques offer enhanced precision for targeting stubborn fat resistant to diet and exercise.

Liposuction Techniques: Customized Approach

  • Fluid Injection Liposuction: Utilizes medicated solution to facilitate fat removal
  • Tumescent Liposuction: Effective for large volume fat extraction
  • Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction (UAL): Uses ultrasonic energy to liquefy fat cells
  • Super-Wet Technique: Balanced fluid-to-fat ratio for efficient removal

Ideal Candidates for Liposuction in Portland, Oregon

The best candidates for liposuction are healthy individuals close to their ideal body weight with localized fat deposits and realistic expectations. Patients should have good skin elasticity and be non-smokers willing to maintain results through diet and exercise.

Benefits of Body Contouring

  • Enhanced body contours and proportions
  • Improved self-confidence
  • Targeted fat removal in resistant areas
  • Minimal scarring with modern techniques

Liposuction Procedure and Recovery

The procedure involves small incisions and a specialized cannula to suction targeted fat cells. Recovery typically requires wearing compression garments, avoiding strenuous activities, and following post-operative instructions. Most patients return to work within a few days, with final results visible after six weeks.

Potential Risks and Considerations

While liposuction is generally safe, potential risks include infection, skin irregularities, and anesthesia complications. Dr. Bartholomew thoroughly evaluates each patient's medical history to minimize risks and ensure optimal outcomes.

Cost of Liposuction in Portland

Liposuction costs range from $3,000 to $17,000, with an average of approximately $6,825. Pricing depends on treatment areas, technique complexity, and surgeon expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions

I was telling Dr. Bartholomew about how multiple dermatologists refused to remove the mole from my cheek because it would be too difficult - he responded, "Well, I'm very good at what I do." It's true - he and his staff were super professional and streamlined the whole process. I'm mostly completely shocked by the lack of any scar at all (just discoloration and only two weeks out) - I've had tons of moles removed and am left with either a raised bump (shave removal) or a jagged line (oval removal). He was able to only use internal dissolvable sutures and covered it in skin glue and a butterfly bandage, which stayed on for a little over a week with showering. They gave me two pages on approaches to minimizing the appearance of a scar and my only complaint is that the paper said to start applying ointment day after which was inapplicable for me - and the papers didn't specify when you should start using the adhesive silicon strips so I slapped one on about 10 days after surgery and then panicked when I googled to see you shouldn't start those until 2 to 3 weeks post surgery - the strips instructions also didn't provide a timeline. Fortunately, I was able to remove it without harm through warm water.
