Understanding Tummy Tuck Procedures

Over time, individuals may develop significant skin laxity around the abdominal area. This condition can result from pregnancy, substantial weight loss, or natural aging processes. A tummy tuck procedure, medically known as abdominoplasty, effectively eliminates unwanted skin to create a tighter, firmer abdominal appearance.

Benefits of Abdominoplasty

A tummy tuck provides multiple aesthetic and functional advantages:

  • Addresses post-pregnancy and weight fluctuation skin changes
  • Creates a flatter, more toned abdominal profile
  • Repositions and tightens weakened abdominal muscles

Ideal Candidates for Tummy Tuck Surgery

Characteristics of Good Candidates

  • Patients with excess abdominal skin and tissue
  • Individuals at stable body weight
  • Patients with realistic surgical expectations
  • Women who have completed childbearing

Procedure Details

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons customize each tummy tuck procedure to individual patient needs. The typical surgical process involves:

I got a breast reduction here a few weeks ago and I can’t adequately express how kind and caring the staff here has been. From the very start of the process, Dr Morton and all his staff were extremely respectful and considerate of my anxiety. I was very nervous about having a man do my surgery and repeatedly see my chest during my care, but each time, he is so caring and his expertise puts me right at ease. They explained the surgery and the whole healing process in as much detail as they could and answered every single one of my questions to the point that I was (almost) completely at ease when I went in for my actual surgery. They also got rid of an old tattoo that I really didn’t like (bonus!!!) They filled out every form that I needed for FMLA and missing work promptly and completely, they called me a couple times in the days after surgery to check on me and see how I was doing, and today, at the 2 week post op appointment, they assuaged my fears around a weird bump in the bandages around my nipple (it was just a little extra suture sticking out lol). I couldn’t be happier with the results of my reduction and I can’t express how excited I am to be a normal bra size (or how good my back and shoulders feel with the extra weight off). I highly recommend Dr Morton for any and all breast surgery you need.

Dr. Morton was the most thoughtful and caring surgeon I’ve met with through my whole breast cancer journey which included 4 surgeries with 3 different doctors. He took all the time my husband and I needed, was methodical and detailed and made me feel whole in my body like nobody else could. He thought outside the box and the outcome was amazing. I couldn’t recommend him and his team enough.

I was referred to this office in Renton, WA by my PCP, after successfully losing 100 pounds, that also qualified me for hip surgery back in April 2024. I was wanting to get skin/fat removal from my upper arms and stomach, after having worked hard to lose the weight, and continuing on this journey. I waited 2 weeks to hear back from this office, and decided to call myself. I was told my BMI was too high to be considered for surgery. If I had not called, it seems they would not have bothered to call me back. No interest in even meeting with me, because as we all know, BMI is not the best definition of good health. I have no health conditions like diabetes, heart issues, anything of that nature. Fat shaming at its' finest...yet again in this society. Essentially, they offer serves to skinny people only, regardless of their health, as long as they are below 36 on the BMI scale. There are many offices in the Seattle area that do consider all factors before making abrupt decisions on surgeries, and therefore I have asked my doctor's office to stop recommending this office. Judging a book by its cover, without even meeting that book is disgusting.

I highly recommend Dr. Hutter and his whole team!! I had an amazing experience at Valley Medical. There is a real sense of cooperation, cohesiveness and friendliness. The Surgical Center is organized and clean and the SC team seemed to have a flow, like excellent musicians who play together all the time and love the music. The day of my procedure I felt a sense of coherence which was palpable and let me know I was in good hands. So, if you want or need to have a procedure that is within the scope of Dr. Hutter’s practice, I can highly recommend Dr. Hutter. My surgery was the long overdue removal of (old) silicone breast implants plus a breast lift. When I arrived on the day of surgery, honestly, I felt nervous. Thankfully, the experience of being there quickly reminded me exactly why I chose Dr. Hutter. He and his team are every bit as excellent as I had heard through a chance, word of mouth referral. 💛Thank You to: -Front of House: Kylie and Marisa for a smooth, welcoming intake process, -Patient Care Coordinator, Annie, thank you for all of your help with the financial part, -Medical Support Team: Katie, Bailey, Tracy, thank you all for your part in the initial consults, and for your patience + assurances with my pre surgery calls and last minute questions, -Surgical Center Team: Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of it! Unan, Johanna, Jocelyn, Jen, Elaine, Jennifer, Mishelle. And special thanks to Dr. Dycus for the smooth process with the anesthesia! And of course, Thank you Dr. Hutter for your skill, clarity, kindness, intuition, surgical artistry and a genuine passion for helping patients achieve their own best outcome whatever that may be. As I write this I am about two weeks post surgery and feel thankful to have selected Valley Medical, it went better than I could have imagined. Here ends the main part of my review…If you happen to be an avid reader (lol) and are interested in more details, read on… :) My surgery was relatively complicated, mostly because I put it off way longer than was medically advised. I am embarrassed to share that the implants were placed in my body in 1990, and only include this fact because it is relevant and speaks to the overall possible complexity of the surgery. For the record, the implants were initially beautiful and I was very, very happy with them for 20+ years until around year 23 or 24 when they began to change/harden. They simply outlived their lifespan as viable medical devices, and by 2024 they were unsurprisingly, problematic. The explant was an involved project because the implants had ruptured (confirmed on MRI January 2024) and by this time they both had significant hardening/scarring or capsular contracture. Between 2015-2023 I consulted with 6 qualified plastic surgeons, yet I did nothing for all that time. I just felt uncertain until I finally met Dr. Hutter and his team in early 2024. They walked me through my options and I decided on an explant and a mastopexy (a breast lift). Due to my lifestyle this feels like a good fit for me now, and so far I feel immensely relieved and very good about this choice. Back to the morning of the procedure - the surgical team helped me to feel so safe and secure! Unan greeted us and was calm, present, friendly and organized walking me through the “day of” paper work. Next Johanna set me up, prepped me and helped me feel at home - she was easy to talk to and very sweet in answering my many questions. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Dycus was very thorough in confirming that I had followed my part of the pre surgery guidance for a safe operation. He spoke and listened in a way that was focused, attentive and very reassuring. It is worth repeating, Dr. Hutter’s team made me feel safe and confident before and after surgery. The feeling in the surgical suite on that day of my surgery was friendly, calm, organized and felt very dialed in. The elegance of flow in the whole process reflects harmonious teamwork. Who doesn’t want all of that in a surgical team?!😊
