Understanding Arm Lift Surgery

Brachioplasty, commonly known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape the underside of the upper arm, extending from the underarm region to the elbow. This transformative procedure addresses aesthetic concerns related to excess skin and localized fat deposits.

Why Consider an Arm Lift?

Weight fluctuations, aging, and genetic factors can cause the upper arms to develop a drooping, sagging appearance. While exercise can improve muscle tone, it cannot effectively address excess skin or weakened underlying tissues.

Ideal Candidates for Arm Lift Surgery

  • Adults with significant upper arm skin laxity
  • Individuals with stable body weight
  • Healthy patients without medical conditions that impair healing
  • Non-smokers with realistic expectations

Surgical Procedure Details

The arm lift procedure involves strategic incisions typically placed on the inner or back of the arm. The length and pattern depend on the amount of excess skin and the surgeon's assessment. Fat reduction may be accomplished through excision or liposuction techniques.

Procedural Steps

  • Anesthesia administration
  • Precise incision placement
  • Removal of excess skin and fat
  • Tightening of underlying supportive tissue
  • Closure with absorbable sutures

Potential Risks and Considerations

As with any surgical procedure, arm lift surgery carries potential risks including scarring, infection, changes in skin sensation, and asymmetry. A comprehensive consultation with Dr. Quetell will address individual concerns and potential complications.

Recovery and Results

Patients can expect long-lasting results provided they maintain a stable weight and overall fitness. Initial swelling and bruising will subside, revealing smoother, more toned upper arm contours.

Post-Surgical Care

  • Wear compression garments as directed
  • Follow specific wound care instructions
  • Attend scheduled follow-up appointments
  • Avoid strenuous activities during initial healing

I just love Dr Q. and his wife, Amy! I had a horribly botched breast reconstruction from cancer which literally made me cry everyday. He not only immediately took me on as a patient in an emergency implant failure situation but did am amazing job fixing the mess I was left with. He was straight forward about what I could expect, the time frame required and I am more than happy with the results. I have continued my care with him for almost five years and feel I am in the best of hands!

I had my implants removed and a lift eight months ago and my breasts are now completely different cup sizes. I left a review about how awful the doctors manners were, and the fact that he had to do two surgeries instead of one, and he got very offended. But I have to warn people 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s a complete slop job. I avoid mirrors and can’t buy bras anywhere. I would be looking for a revision if I felt like I could handle another round of invasive surgeries. Look for someone better.

Dr Quetell is fabulous. He performed a surgery for me after a recommendation from my neighbor who is a nurse. I could not have been more pleased with his manner, skill and after care.

My son needed a skin tag removed and Dr. Quetell wasted no time. He was confident and kind during our consult and made my husband and I feel completely at ease. On the day of the procedure he told us he would begin at 8am and he was prompt and ready to go right at 8. The skin tag was flawlessly removed. Later in the day we received a phone call from Dr. Quetell, calling to see how our son was doing. Neither me nor my husband have ever had a doctor call us to follow up after an appointment/procedure. We were so pleasantly surprised by his level of caring and dedication all around. Excellent doctor!
