Understanding Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the shape, volume, and projection of breasts. Also known as augmentation mammaplasty, this surgical technique involves using implants to create fuller breasts or restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy.

Who is a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

Breast implants may be suitable for individuals who:

  • Are physically and mentally healthy
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Have fully developed breasts
  • Feel their breasts are too small
  • Want to restore breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss

Consultation and Procedure Details

During your consultation at Lake Mary Plastic Surgery, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted. The consultation includes discussing your goals, examining breast measurements, and exploring implant options. Patients will review critical considerations such as silicone versus saline implants, potential risks, and expected outcomes.

Procedure Specifics

Breast augmentation is typically performed under general anesthesia in an operating room. The procedure is not conducted in the Lake Mary Plastic Surgery office, ensuring patient safety and optimal surgical conditions.

What Breast Augmentation Cannot Address

It's important to understand that breast augmentation does not correct drooping breasts. For patients seeking to address breast sagging, a mastopexy (breast lift) may be recommended, either in conjunction with or separate from the augmentation procedure.

Safety and Considerations

Scientific research has found no proven link between breast implants and systemic diseases. Most women can breastfeed after breast augmentation, and there is no evidence suggesting increased risks of breast cancer.

Recovery and Aftercare

Post-surgical recovery involves rest during the initial days. Patients may experience mild swelling, tenderness, and bruising. Most individuals can return to work within a week, with full physical activity resuming after approximately six weeks.

Dr Levitt is the BEST!!!! Best personality, bedside manner, expertise knowledge, Everything!!!! Friendly & took the time to explain everything to me. Very polite. Dr Levitt needs to be cloned! If only half of the Dr's were like him this world of healthcare would certainly shine a light on healthcare.

This is for my husband. From the first time he spoke to the one who arranged appointments to now after having Bilateral common femoral endarterectomy on both legs, we are extremely pleased and blessed! Dr Levitt and Dr Wesley perform the surgery. Cannot express how relieved we are these surgeons were there for my husband. Would not want anyone else if the need is there again. Dr Levitt always made us feel we were his only patient and explained things to us so WE understood. Dr Wesley after the surgery came in to the hospital room to check in and as well as Dr Levitt, explained the surgery so we understood. Overall, Vascular Specialist of Central Florida and Dr Levitt & Wesley is a 10++++ in our book. Thank you, thank you for taking excellent care of my husband. I Was looking into switching vein specialists and thought I would be getting my annual ultrasound but they never told me not to wear my compression socks. When I booked the appointment I said I would bring my entire medical record with me. When I called Jennifer told me that Dr. Levitt had to see me first and then see if my insurance would allow. I have been getting ultrasounds with my insurance for 9 years with my other Dr. including my 1st visit with him. She was extremely antagonistic, rude and with a true millennial attitude. When I said I wouldn't be coming to my appointment she demanded to know why and what she should say to Dr. Levitt. Even as I repeated my concerns she kept attacking and interrupting. Sounds to me they want to bill as much as possible. Very rude place.

Dr. Teed and Dr. Marmar were wonderful and the staff there is fantastic 🤩. Nobody made any promises and I'm not naive enough to imply any, but I already feel better and anticipate getting better every day!! Thank you all for your incredible care!!
