Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience under the care of Dr. Paul Smith at Moffitt Cancer Center. As a cancer patient, navigating such a difficult and emotional time, I was hoping for a provider who would be kind, patient, and thorough in explaining the outcomes and expectations of my treatment plan. Unfortunately, I did not feel that level of support from Dr. Smith. During my appointments, I found him to be impatient when I asked questions, particularly when I inquired about the results of my DMX DTI. Rather than offering reassurance or clarity, he seemed irritated that I questioned his work. It was disheartening and left me feeling more anxious and confused rather than cared for. One of the most difficult moments for me was during my initial follow-up visit, when the bandages were removed. I was overwhelmed and emotional—understandably so—but rather than offering any comfort or empathy, Dr. Smith suggested I may need antidepressants. It was his fellow who stepped in afterward, kindly reassuring me that my tears and emotions were completely normal and valid. Ultimately, I decided to seek a second opinion and revision surgery with another surgeon who took the time to listen, validate my concerns, and address the issues that were previously dismissed. I’m now on a better path to healing, both physically and emotionally. While Dr. Smith may have clinical expertise, my personal experience with his bedside manner and approach left much to be desired. Overall, I felt rushed through my appointments and dismissed when I needed compassion and guidance the most. Bedside manner is such a critical part of care—especially in oncology—and unfortunately, I did not feel supported in the way I had hoped.

Dr. Smith communicated with me all the options available to me for the reconstruction of both of my breasts. He was very real on what to expect during the reconstruction stages. He did a wonderful job in reconstructing both breasts after the cancer treatment. The tattoo of the niples were amazing! Highly recommended him.

I had a fantastic experience from start to finish having a tummy tuck at USF Plastic Surgery. I'm a few weeks out but I already look and feel great. My care has been consistently excellent and the results have already far outpaced my expectations 3/4/2021 update I’m still extremely happy with my tummy tuck- just wanted to update and say that I had my chest corrected this past year and once again I was extremely pleased with the care I received and my results.
