Revision Rhinoplasty in Dallas, TX

Understanding Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty—sometimes called secondary rhinoplasty—is a specialized surgical procedure designed to correct problems that persist or develop after an initial rhinoplasty. Unlike primary nose surgery, revision rhinoplasty presents unique challenges due to altered anatomical structures and existing scar tissue.

Why Revision Rhinoplasty is Complex

The complexity of revision rhinoplasty stems from compromised tissue planes and scarring from previous surgeries. These factors make repositioning cartilage and bone significantly more difficult, requiring exceptional surgical expertise.

Key Considerations for Revision Rhinoplasty

  • Significant anatomical alterations from previous surgery
  • Extensive scar tissue management
  • Advanced surgical reconstruction techniques
  • Precise cartilage grafting methods

Candidacy for Revision Rhinoplasty

Ideal candidates for revision rhinoplasty typically have a nose that appears unnatural or does not function properly following initial surgery. Dr. Cochran requires patients to wait at least one full year after their previous nose surgery to ensure complete healing and stabilization.

Evaluation Criteria

  • General health and wellness assessment
  • Realistic surgical expectations
  • Comprehensive medical history review
  • Financial preparedness for complex procedure

The Revision Rhinoplasty Procedure

Dr. Cochran's approach focuses on reconstructing the nasal framework using advanced grafting techniques. The procedure typically involves obtaining cartilage from the nasal septum, ear, or rib to reshape and restore nasal structure. The average revision rhinoplasty takes approximately four hours to complete.

Recovery and Expectations

Recovery from revision rhinoplasty generally mirrors primary rhinoplasty healing timelines. Patients can expect initial bruising and swelling, with significant improvement within a few weeks. Rib cartilage grafts may require a slightly extended recovery period.

Typical Recovery Timeline

  • Initial recovery: 2-3 weeks
  • Return to work: Approximately 2 weeks
  • Light exercise: Around 3 weeks
  • Full recovery: Approximately 6 weeks

Genuine 5 star review for revision rhinoplasty! I am so lucky to have found Dr Cochran and his team. I had a rhinoplasty in STL in 2021, and I immediately knew I was not happy with it. I kept giving it time for the swelling to heal, but the shape was just not at all what I wanted. I had a lot of bad experiences with my first surgery, so I was super nervous to have another. I was even turned away by another Dallas Dr because my nose was “technically” well done, just not what I wanted. Dr Cochran and his team took my concerns seriously and totally validated me, which felt so good on its own, but the fact he was able to adjust my nose to exactly what I wanted all along is amazing! They were so attentive, kind, and I knew what was going on the whole process through. Healing was great, I am currently 4 weeks post op! Still have swelling but I will include photos so far. I am SO stinkin happy i went through with this and with Dr Cochran specifically!!

Had rhinoplasty done here about a decade ago. Like others have said, he's a very nice guy but also very incompetent. My nose is still crooked and one of my nostrils is now a completely different shape than the other. Paid $12,000 for this horrible job. It was a decade ago but I've learned to sort of live with it. Still upset becauseI thought since I was paying top dollar and the reviews looked good, I would get the best result. Boy was I wrong.

Dr. Cochran truly changed my life! It’s been a little over a year since my revision rhinoplasty with him (after two failed septoplasties from a different provider) and I could not be more pleased with my results. His attention to detail, understanding my needs as a patient and overall bedside manner and post-operative care is truly unmatched. His staff is also fantastic and ensured I was comfortable and educated throughout every step. Look no further — Dr. Cochran is the provider for you!

I had a first time rhinoplasty last year in October with Dr.Cochran. I’ve been holding out because I wanted to wait until my nose was for the most part healed. He gave me the exact results I was looking for without me saying much, it looks exactly like the planned picture result. I’m so glad I went with him.
