Understanding Earlobe Repair in Portland

Earrings are a popular fashion accessory that can sometimes cause lasting damage to earlobes. Stretched, torn, or damaged earlobes can be aesthetically corrected through specialized surgical techniques performed by Dr. David Magilke.

Common Reasons for Earlobe Repair

Patients seek earlobe repair for various compelling reasons:

  • Reducing earlobe skin stretched by heavy or oversized earrings
  • Repairing tears or splits caused by accidental earring damage
  • Closing gauge piercing holes that will not naturally close
  • Removing unsightly scar tissue from piercings

Genetic Considerations in Earlobe Appearance

Some patients may have naturally larger earlobes that cause aesthetic concerns. Earlobe repair can help improve proportion and symmetry, addressing genetic variations in ear structure.

Earlobe Repair Procedure Details

Dr. Magilke performs earlobe repair as a straightforward outpatient procedure, typically completed in approximately 30 minutes per ear. The minimally invasive surgical technique ensures patient comfort and precise results.

Surgical Process

The procedure involves localized anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Dr. Magilke carefully removes excess tissue and meticulously sutures the earlobe to recreate a natural, aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Recovery and Post-Procedure Care

Patients can expect minimal discomfort following the procedure. Most normal activities can be resumed quickly, with sutures typically removed approximately one week after surgery.

Piercing Recommendations

After complete healing—usually around two months—patients can re-pierce their earlobes. Dr. Magilke recommends piercing in a slightly different location to prevent potential re-tearing and ensure long-term ear health.

Consultation and Personalized Assessment

During a comprehensive consultation, Dr. Magilke will evaluate your specific earlobe concerns and determine the most appropriate surgical approach. While most earlobes can be successfully improved, some complex cases may require specialized consideration.

I am really pleased with all my cosmetic procedures preformed by Dr Magilke. I moved to California several years ago and I come back to just to see Dr. Magilke, because I’ve seen several of the best doctors in California, and they do not compare to Dr. Magilke. Everyone that I have recommended to go see him have been more than pleased with the results, his professionalism, kindness and care. I highly recommend. Dr. Magilke and great amazing team.

I was in an accident and had a scar and a bit of asymmetry on one side of my nose as a result. I went to Dr. Magilke wanting to fix that and he suggested a do a bit of lift for my nose profile too. I also sent him a photo of what nose I like. Unfortunately, i learned he is not a good surgeon. My nose looks even more asymmetrical now after the surgery. My bridge has a bump on one side now and I also have asymmetrical nostrils. After care was the worst, they acted like I am overreacting. When I told Magilke he made it sound like it was not a big deal as well. He was not hearing me at all. In fact, I don’t even think he cares what patient wants, he does what he wants and the fastest and easiest way. My advice don’t waste your money, he is not good at what he does. He has also done a filler in my lips and it also was asymmetrical.
