Understanding Rhinoplasty: Aesthetic Facial Harmony

Rhinoplasty is a sophisticated surgical procedure designed to reshape and refine the nose, creating aesthetic balance with surrounding facial features. The term derives from Greek roots meaning "nose" and "to shape," representing a precise approach to nasal reconstruction.

Key Rhinoplasty Goals

  • Straighten a crooked nose
  • Modify nasal bridge angles
  • Remove unwanted nasal bumps
  • Refine nasal tip shape
  • Improve nostril symmetry
  • Enhance overall facial proportions

Dr. Motykie's Personalized Rhinoplasty Approach

Dr. Motykie recognizes that each patient's facial structure is unique. His surgical philosophy focuses on customizing nose surgery to complement individual facial features, ensuring natural-looking results that maintain ethnic identity and personal aesthetic goals.

Comprehensive Rhinoplasty Techniques

Dr. Motykie employs advanced surgical techniques that prioritize both aesthetic enhancement and functional nasal improvement. The procedure can address cosmetic concerns while simultaneously correcting potential breathing difficulties.

Candidate Considerations for Rhinoplasty

Ideal rhinoplasty candidates typically include individuals seeking to:

  • Improve nasal appearance
  • Achieve facial feature balance
  • Correct structural breathing issues
  • Enhance self-confidence

Age and Surgical Timing

Most surgeons recommend waiting until facial growth is complete, typically around 16-17 years for females and slightly later for males, to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.

Functional and Aesthetic Considerations

Dr. Motykie emphasizes that successful rhinoplasty must balance aesthetic improvements with maintaining proper nasal function. Potential procedural elements may include septum correction, nasal valve support, and turbinate reduction.

Consultation Process

During the initial consultation, patients can expect a comprehensive evaluation including computer imaging, detailed discussion of surgical goals, and personalized treatment planning.

Who to trust with your face is the biggest decision a woman can make. I needed so much: a rhinoplasty after suffering a broken nose in a near-fatal car accident in which the cartilage had separated causing deep indentations, a deep plane face lift, a forehead lift. The transformation is remarkable. My nose—oh my goodness how regretful I am that I didn’t have the unsightliness of my nose fixed years ago! I’m all recovered now and better than ever! My neckline is snatched, my nose is perfect, and my skin has a firmness and glow that makes me look ten years younger. And Dr. Motykie is also patient and kind and receptive. And I am very grateful!!

I had been considering getting my buccal fat removed for a while now. During the consultation, Dr. Motykie recommended fat injections on my face, specifically under my eyes, to help with the hollowness. That has been an issue of mine for a while, so I decided to go with his recommendation. After I woke up from surgery, I noticed that the right side of my face was very swollen, and I could barely open that side of my mouth. However, the left side of my face was perfectly fine, as if it hadn’t had surgery. There was no pain or swelling, and I could open my mouth just fine. I started feeling around inside my mouth with my tongue and noticed stitches and swollen incisions inside the lower and upper right side of my face. On the left side, I noticed stitches on the upper part of my cheek, but there weren’t any stitches on the lower part of the inside of my cheek. I also had a significant amount of fat under my eyes, but I thought maybe it was just the swelling from the fat transfer. I immediately voiced my concern, starting with the fact that the left side of my face hadn’t been operated on. They should have removed buccal fat from both sides of my lower cheek. Dr. Motykie Said he took photos during surgery of the fat that was removed From both sides. I asked to see those photos, But they were never shared with me. I told him it didn’t make sense that the left side of my face did not feel like it had any surgery done to it. There wasn’t any swelling or pain. I didn't feel an incision or sutures on the inside of my lower left cheek. I could barely Open the right side of my mouth due to all the swelling; however, on the left side, it was perfectly fine. It didn’t appear that any surgery had been done on the left lower cheek to remove the buccal fat in that area. Dr. Motykie responded that the sutures most likely fell off. The sutures fell off? There wasn’t any sign or feeling that an incision was made on the lower left cheek. Then comes the fat that was injected under my eyes. I have never had any issues with undereye bags or any visible fat under my eyes in my life. My issue has always been undereye hollowness. After the fat transfer, I now have excessive fat under my eyes. It’s been hard to take videos or take photos of myself due to the excessive amount of fat under my eyes. I look worse than I did before now that I have visible fat under my eyes. It was a mistake letting Dr. Motykie touch my face. I’ve reached out to his office several times post-surgery And have even shared photos of the unevenness of my face due to buccal fat not being removed from both sides of my face. Dr. Motykie has refused to respond or address these issues post-surgery. Over a year post-op, you could clearly see that the left side of my face is chunkier than the right. My jawline on the left side isn’t as defined as on the right side of my face. And the excessive fat under my eyes that he said would eventually disappear and flatten out never did. I also developed severe undereye darkness from the fat transfer that he did. Don't let Photoshopped photos on his website or social media fool you. After my consultation, I was provided with a Photoshopped ‘after’ photo showing what my results would look like. The results look nothing like what I was told it would look like. Do not let Dr. Motykie touch your face. It’s concerning because We expect plastic surgeons to be perfectionists. For him to put me under anesthesia and not have the required discipline or appropriate processes in place or doesn’t give a f**k to check to make sure that he removed buccal fat from both sides of my cheeks to create evenness on my face is concerning for someone who calls themselves a plastic surgeon In Beverly Hills.
