Understanding Breast Lift Surgery (Mastopexy)

Aging, weight loss, and childbearing can result in sagging, deflated breasts that impact overall appearance. Breast lift surgery, medically known as mastopexy, firms, raises, and reshapes breasts by removing excess skin and strategically repositioning breast tissue and nipples.

Key Benefits of Breast Lift Procedure

  • Restores perkier, more youthful breast contour
  • Removes excess, loose skin
  • Repositions breast tissue for improved shape
  • Enhances overall body proportion

Procedure Details

Breast lift surgery typically takes two to three hours and can be performed as a standalone procedure or combined with breast augmentation or reduction, depending on the patient's aesthetic goals.

Surgical Technique

During the procedure, surgeons remove loose skin and firm the remaining breast tissue. Techniques may include using synthetic mesh or the patient's own skin to support breast structure. Some surgeons might also utilize fat transfer to add fullness and improve overall breast appearance.

Recovery and Expectations

Patients can typically return to regular activities within a few days. Complete exercise resumption occurs around three weeks, and patients are required to wear a special support bra for approximately one month following the procedure.

Dr Capone and the ladies in the office are extremely nice. Dr Capone was very thorough in providing me with the information I needed to make an informed decision on the surgery I need. I can’t thank him enough. I feel very comfortable with my decision to move ahead and have surgery.

This man right here is a true magician. Dr. Avery, it has been a genuine pleasure to work with you and your entire team. I don’t believe you always receive the full credit you truly deserve, as cosmetic surgery is frequently kept private for various reasons. Nevertheless, I want to shout your praises from the rooftops. From the very first moment I entered your office, I knew you were the surgeon I wanted to perform my surgery. Your intelligence is remarkable, and you have a unique ability to explain every single detail in a way that is easy to understand. You asked so many questions and were so detailed, to make sure we achieved the results I was looking for. You have a remarkable talent for making your patients feel like they are your only priority, as you give them your complete and undivided attention, spending as much time with them as necessary. You are so incredibly thorough, delicate when needed, and exceptionally humble. You embody everything one could hope for in a doctor. I have never felt more cared for or looked after than by the team at the Specialist in Plastic Surgery of Pittsburgh. Dr. Avery, thank you so much for your brilliant work and for being who you are as a human.

Dr. Avery Capone literally saved my hand from amputation due to a terrible infection. He is a skillful surgeon and caring doctor who is thorough and extremely knowledgeable but above all, a wonderful human being. I give my highest recommendation to him, his Father, Dr. Ray Capone and their office without hesitation.

I am exactly 2 years post op today from rhinoplasty with Dr. Raymond Capone and I’m leaving another review as 2 years is the amount of time Dr. Capone assured me my nose would be fully healed before I could judge my results. My results are no different than they were a few weeks after surgery when I raised my concerns. Dr. Capone has no idea what he is doing and should never be allowed to perform rhinoplasty. I've spoken to some of his past rhinoplasty patients who feel the exact same way, but were hesitant to reach out due to how he treated them and how uncomfortable he made them feel. I’ve been through hell the last 2 years because he completely ruined my nose functionally as well as aesthetically. My nostrils have collapsed, my septum and columella are now twisted and I can no longer breathe through my nose without it completely closing. I can no longer exercise (a huge part of my life) and my sleep is non existent as I can only breathe through my mouth now at night. Due to the mouth breathing, I now have developed cavities that my dentist said is directly caused by my nasal collapse as the mouth breathing causes dry mouth and in turn cavities (never had cavities prior!). I consulted with one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the country, Dr. Guyuron, and he couldn't believe the amount of issues Dr. Capone caused due to his outdated surgical technique and carelessness. I now have to have a revision with grafting to fix Dr. Capone's mistakes and this will cost me over $20,000. Dr. Capone refuses to reach out to make this right and refuses to take any accountability for his actions. I wish I could post photos to show how incredibly awful his work is. When you make a mistake, especially when it comes to someone’s body and you are a physician entrusted by that patient, you do everything you can to right that mistake. Dr. Capone did nothing to make this right and instead preached about how great of a surgeon he is and that he did nothing wrong. Please choose any other surgeon.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Please reconsider before seeing Dr. Raymond Capone. He has no business performing rhinoplasty as the techniques he utilizes are completely outdated and proven to cause issues, yet he continues to perform surgeries. I’ve had nothing but complications and while that in itself is awful, the way I’ve been treated by him because of the complications has been a nightmare. He is arrogant and refuses to admit the issues. Our plan prior to surgery was discussed at length and agreed to, however the result is poor and I now struggle to breathe and live my life normally. He has accused me of making symptoms up and also stated I’m his only problem patient he’s ever had and that “everyone loves him” and to show my before and afters to any doctor and they will commend him on his beautiful work. In reality, I have seen a number of surgeons for a second opinion and each surgeon came to the same conclusion that the work was done poorly and the complications are due to failure to correctly perform the procedure. I now have to undergo a revision this summer with a highly skilled ENT/facial plastic surgeon to correct multiple issues directly caused by Dr. Capone. I wasted $8000 for this man to ruin my breathing and the look of my nose and will have to spend an additional $20k for another surgeon to fix what Capone did to me. I tried many times to have conversations with him and come to a solution, however he refuses to put the patient first and would rather defend himself. He never admitted to the issues he caused, yet told me he would do a revision on me for the full cost or I could bring a quote from another surgeon and he’d “match it”. To deny issues exist, then subsequently offer a revision for the issues you’re denying, while expecting the patient you botched to pay full price to have the issues fixed is insane. This behavior from a SURGEON is highly unethical and shocking. The least he could do is offer a refund so I’m able to put that towards a revision, but that’s not the case. After exhausting all efforts to remediate this, I had no other option than to open a case with the PA Medical Board who are currently investigating him. The mental trauma this has caused me cannot even be put into words and I can only hope the medical board finds him at fault so that he can never do this to another patient. I’ve never been treated so badly by a medical professional and feel it would be a disservice to others if I didn’t post an honest review.
